  • 'yǐqián' is an adverb of time. It means 'before, in the past'. No particular time is mentioned here.
  • 'suīrán...kěshì...' is parallel to English 'Although...' or '..., but...' In Chinese, both 'suīrán' and 'kěshì' should be included.
